ANGAN (Augmenting Nature by Green Affordable New-habitat) -International Conference 2019.

ANGAN (Augmenting Nature by Green Affordable New-habitat) International Conference, an initiative by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India in collaboration with GIZ, successfully spread the word that Energy Conservation is the foundation for Energy Independence/ Energy saved is Energy Generated. As we are aware, Time isn’t the main thing;Time is the only thing so the best we can do is Converse and Conserve. The event took place at The Lalit Hotel, New Delhi in September with over 1000 participants from all over India and more than 100 National and International Experts were a part of this three day International Conference.

After the Paris Agreement, India made a commitment for a sustainable future based on a low carbon economy and in the coming years bring-in a revolution with green building development, passive house design, zero energy vision, and low carbon initiatives. Therefore, a platform for focused discussion with particular case studies as well smarter and efficient building practices acted as a medium for knowledge exchange.

An International event which served as a platform between organizations, systematic sustainability management, and feedback loops for better resource efficiency. Eminent speakers and dignitaries from around the world were gathered to debate and discuss. Several issues and initiatives that are taking place worldwide for achieving Building Energy Efficiency were brought to light. The participants from Central and State local authorities as well as Technology providers and Experts, practicing Architects and University Students attended the event. The discussions focused on various alternative options and technologies in the field of design and construction of energy efficient Commercial as well as Residential Buildings.

As part of this event, an exhibition was arranged with more than 40 Exhibitors - Energy Efficient Building Material Suppliers, Technology suppliers, Research Institutions and Universities displayed the latest innovations in the Building Energy Efficiency Sector. Amidst the debates and intense discussions, the highlight of the event - a cultural night, rooted in Indian tradition was also organized to revive the spirit of the occasion.

The first of its kind, this International conference - Angan is a stepping-stone towards a revolution that would alter the Indian built environment. ANGAN 2019 managed to make a successful debut. The response received from all the participants encouraged us to make a comeback- ANGAN 2021 with an aim to engage more and more professionals who can be the real agents of change which India awaits.

The vision of The Bureau of Energy Efficiency for the building sector of India has many milestones and such a platform supported in accelerating the progress and activities towards the ultimate goal of energy efficient India.
